On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, Daniel Buigas, Executive Director of the Coalition, spoke to City Council at the Council Meeting during the Public Comments section to inform the Council of the proposed 114th Ave Park Project.  Mr. Buigas told Council that the Coalition will present it with a petition containing the names and signatures of Doral residents that want the park built now!

The proposed 114th Ave Park received approval and funding from the City Council in October 2012.  A year-and-a-half later, the Park has yet to break ground.  On March 2014, the firm Wannemacher Jensen Architects, Inc. presented a conceptual redesign of the park that provides for its greater use.  The City assigned a five-person panel to review the firm's design, which received the support from the panel.

The conceptual redesign obtained approval from the Council Workshop on Parks & Recreation on March 31, 2014 - the pricing for the park's design and construction will soon be provided by the firm.  The Parks & Recreation Department plans to have a special council meeting later this month to present its new budget for City approval.  The Parks & Recreation Department has various projects on its queue.  By providing your name and signature to our petition, you will let the City Council know that its residents have waited long enough to have this park, you want the park to receive priority over other projects and that you want to Build the Park Now!  Build Our Park Now Petition.pdf

Attached find a petition requesting the City to build the much awaited and sorely needed park facility situated in the northwest part of our City.  This park, which includes a community center and much needed recreational facilities, received approval and funding for its construction by the City Council over two years ago. The children, adults and families of this part of our City have been waiting for this park to break ground for almost two years.  Despite the requests to build our park, our elected officials have yet to move forward with this much needed project.  Please help us by signing the petition and getting your family, friends and neighbors to do so as well.  Let's let our elected officials hear our voices - Build Our Park Now! Petition: Build Our Park Now.pdf
