Why this petition matters
To the Concerned Residents of Doral,
Sign this petition and tell the Mayor and City Council to fight against the Application of Apollo at Oasis at Doral I, LLC, a Developer who is requesting a change to the zoning code so that they can purchase land and construct high-rise residential and commercial buildings (OASIS AT DORAL) from the corner of NW 41 Street (Doral Boulevard) and 97th avenue westward. This Developer (The Apollo Companies) is requesting a text amendment to City of Doral Land Development Code Sections 52-5, 53-128(b), and 68-304(b) to modify the Code’s Definitions and allow housing for older persons, assisted living facilities, and adult day care facilities in parcels zoned O-3. The O-3 zoning district was established as the highest intensity office use environment and is compatible with the Business (B), Office (O), and Office and Residential (OR) land use categories, all of which allow personal and professional services, hotels, and medical buildings, including nursing homes. If the Mayor and Council allow this change, it will apply to all areas in the City with O-3 Zoning Districts. Allowing a project like OASIS AT DORAL to proceed is a prime example of overdevelopment that will negatively impact our City and set a dangerous precedent for even more development to the west. Overdevelopment along NW 41st Street (Doral Blvd) will inevitably lead to worsened traffic congestion, strains on infrastructure and public services, and a decreased quality of life for residents. What many residents value most about our City is our quality of life. We must not allow developers to control our quality of life. Sign this Petition and send a message:
To Our Mayor and City Council,
We urge you to VOTE NO on the Application of Apollo at Oasis at Doral I, LLC to change the zoning code. We need you to protect our community from overdevelopment and promote changes that improve our traffic congestion, not make them worse. The OASIS AT DORAL project and the green light it gives other developers to do the same will change Doral in ways the Residents are not in favor of. Our quality of life should be your priority. Do the right thing and don’t support this!
